Race Description

Welcome to the what will be the fastest showdown on mountain bikes! Riders will be out tearin' up the trails for 8 hours to see who can finish with the most laps. Watch out, these folks are gonna be rippin' through a fast 11 mile loop!

Think this day is just for you grown ups only? Heck no! Bring out the family, camp, and let those kids take part in the fun! Let the kids and family go for a morning hike or check out the nature center while you check in. Then, they can rest and camp or cheer you on to victory!

TIMING & RESULTS
CEP timing will be timing with timing chips. All riders will need to affix their race number to the front of their bike. Duo, quad, and corporate teams will be given a baton to pass from team member to team member at the exchange tent.
Support
Neutral bike support will be provided by Two-wheel Jones.

Schedule

Saturday 10/20
PRE-RIDE @ 7 am
Meet at the horse staging area at Usery Park
and ride the 11 mile course. A and B ride leads available. Park entry fee $6 for cars and $2 bicycles.

Friday 11/1
Packet pick up  from 3 pm - 7 pm at Two-wheel Jones bicycles.  Located at 2837 N. Power Rd #110 Mesa, AZ 85215  480-380-8222
Camping is open to those who reserve it through Usery Park. You will be allowed one car with your camping reservation and be allowed to leave your car at your site for the duration of your stay without additional fees.

Saturday 11/2
7:00 am -9:30am LATE REGISTRATION, Packet and chip pickup, horse staging area is open. This will be on a first come first serve basis. Each team will be allowed one car so please plan on carpooling. They park will charge a $6.00 fee at the gate for parking.
9:30 am  Online registration and packet pickup closes.
9:35 am MANDATORY Athlete meeting
10:00am The Showdown at Usery begins
*This will be a LeMans- style start with just over a quarter mile run
12:00 Buckaroo's Kids Race Ages 6 and under
​1:00pm Wrangler Race Kids Race Ages 12 and under
5:00pm headlights REQUIRED for all riders
6:00pm Showdown at Usery Finish!!
8:00pm Awards

Beer Garden!!
The beer garden will be right at the start/finish line! You can hang out, grab a beer, and cheer riders as they head out on laps! A portion of proceeds will go to NICA and Maricopa County Parks for trail maintenance!
FOOD 
Serving food throughout the entire day will be Queso Good Food Truck. They will have offerings including an amazing choice of tacos, burritos quesadillas and many more tasty choices.

SHOWDOWN RULES

  • Teams will have from 10:00am to 6:00 pm  to complete as many laps as they can.   All teams and solos must finish after 6:00pm to complete their 8 hour bid. If you or your team come off the course prior to 6pm and another rider does not set out on course to complete a final lap, you will be recorded as a DNF or "Did not finish".  The final finishing places will be determined by the total number of laps complete after each team finishes their final lap.
  • Each team must have a captain. This person will be the one to communicate with race officials as needed. Any protests will need to be handled by the team captain.
  • A baton (Velcro timing chip) must be passed from one teammate to another in the designated exchange area. Only team members are permitted in the exchange area.
  • There is a single track portion that riders must pass oncoming traffic and are REQUIRED to dismount for your safety. Riders must dismount at the marker, run your bike through the short pass area, and remount their bike. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. 
  •  Passing: It is the responsibility of the overtaking rider to pass with safety. Slower, lapped riders, or riders pushing bikes should yield to overtaking riders. If teams are competing for the lead please act with sportsmanlike conduct and allow him/her to pass if they are traveling faster. A rider should announce him/herself when passing.
  • Short cutting the course will result in disqualification. 
  • E bikes are not permitted. 
  • Maricopa county park rules as well as state and federal laws must be observed at all times.
  • For relay teams, all riders must complete within 2 laps of each other. (If your strongest team member does 4 laps all others on the team must do at least 2 laps)
  • We saved the best rule for last, have fun and be nice out on the course! 
** Be aware, the trails are still open to the public and there may be other hikers out there on the trail**

Course Directions

The Course starts at the horse staging area where you will head west on Blevins trail. Follow this trail until you are able head south on Moon Rock(1.3 mi). Next, jump on Levee (.5) trail heading south as it turns east. Follow Levee(1.3 mi) till you hit Spillway and make a u turn down onto  Channel (.7 mi) and go back west again. From here turn north on NOSO  for .4 mi.  Set out east again on Blevins until the bike dismount area just before getting on Ruidoso for 1.4 mi. Next travel north again on County Line for a mile, catch Meridain going west for .7miles and reenter the dismount area heading the other direction. Jump back on your bike and head up Cat Peaks (1.3 mi). Finally, get back on Blevins (1.0 mi) going northwest  to the exchange/finish line.
